Anna C. Beck, M.D.
Dr. Beck earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 1986.She completed a residency in Internal Medicine and a combined fellowship in Geriatric Medicine and Hematology/Oncology at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Dr. Beck is board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.

Melissa C. Corcoran, M.D., PhD
Before joining UCS, Dr. Corcoran was Pediatric Oncology Director at Children's Hospital at Providence Alaska Medical Center and directed other hematology and oncology programs at Providence. She earned a medical degree at Duke University in 1990 and trained in internal medicine, pediatrics, hematology and oncology at Duke University Medical Center and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. She earned a doctorate and bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Tulane University respectively.

Kent C. DiFiore, M.D.
Dr. DiFiore earned his medical degree at George Washington University School of Medicine in 1975. He served an internship and residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Utah School of Medicine. He is board eligible in both Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. Dr. DiFiore is a past president of the Utah chapter of The American Cancer Society. He is currently medical director of two hospice agencies along the Wasatch Front.

W. Graydon Harker, M.D.
Dr. Harker earned his medical degree in 1975 from the University of Utah School of Medicine before attending Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland to complete an internship and residency in Internal Medicine. He also completed fellowships in Medical Oncology and Clinical Pharmacology at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Harker is board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine and has served as chief of the Hematology/Oncology section at the Veterans Medical Center in Salt Lake City.

Regina C. Klein, M.D.
Dr. Klein attended the State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where she earned her medical degree in 1983. She was appointed chief resident of Internal Medicine at New York University Affiliated/Beekman Downtown Hospital and completed a Medical Oncology fellowship at the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Klein is board certified in Internal Medicine and board eligible in Medical Oncology. She has also been recognized for her research publications in the area of breast cancer.

Gregory J. Litton, M.D.
Dr. Litton earned his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle in 1983. He served an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Dr. Litton trained in research at the University of Wisconsin Clinical Cancer Center. He completed his clinical training with a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Utah School of Medicine. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.

William E. Nibley, M.D.
Dr. Nibley earned his medical degree in 1991 from the George Washington University School of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine followed by a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Utah School of Medicine. He is a member of the clinical faculty in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Utah. Dr. Nibley is board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology and board eligible in Hematology.

Nitin B. Chandramouli, M.D.
Dr. Chandramouli earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa in 1996, where he also served an internship and residency in Internal Medicine. This was followed by a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Utah, Huntsman Cancer Institute. During his fellowship, he served as Chief Fellow for two years. He is board certified in both Oncology and Hematology. Dr. Chandramouli is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, and the American College of Physicians.

Richard N. Frame, M.D.
Dr. Frame earned his medical degree at Wayne State University in 1981 and completed a residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He completed fellowship training in cancer treatments at the University of Utah. Dr. Frame has practiced oncology along the Wasatch Front since 1987. He is former president of the American Cancer Society, Utah Division. Dr. Frame is board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.

Jonathan Whisenant, M.D.
Prior to joining UCS in 2005, Dr. Whisenant was a Clinical Fellow in Medical Oncology at University of California San Francisco Medical Center where he earned his medical degree in 1998. He was a resident in internal medicine at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and a staff physician at The Permanente Group in Walnut Creek, CA. Dr. Whisenant has published and presented his research to peers on colorectal and liver cancers and gastrointestinal tumors. He earned a bachelor‚s degree in history from Brigham Young University in 1993.

Xylina T. Gregg. M.D.
Dr. Gregg attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX where she earned her medical degree in 1991. She completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham followed by a Hematology/Oncology fellowship at the same institution. She was formerly Chief of Hematology/Oncology at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in Houston, TX. Dr. Gregg has been recognized by the American Medical Women’s Society with the Janet M. Glasgow Achievement Award and has authored chapters on Hematology topics in several medical textbooks. She has served as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Dr. Gregg is board certified in Medical Oncology and Hematology.

Gregory J. Miller, M.D.
Dr. Miller earned his medical degree at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island in 1981. He completed an internship at Pawtucket Memorial Hospital of Family Medicine and a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Miller is certified by the American Board of Pain Medicine, the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Miller is vice president and a founding member of the Utah Academy of Pain Medicine and president of the Advisory Board for Cancer Pain Relief Utah.


Finn Bo Petersen, M.D.
Dr. Finn Bo Petersen earned his medical degree from the University of Copenhagen Medical School in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was a resident in Internal Medicine in Copenhagen and completed a fellowship in Medical Oncology at the University of Washington and The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA. Dr. Petersen served as the clinical and program director of the Utah Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at the University of Utah School of Medicine from 1992-2001 and 2001-2006 respectively. Dr. Petersen also served as medical and program director for IHC/LDS Hospital Blood and Marrow Transplant Services from 1997. He is a member of the American Medical Association, International Society for Experimental Hematology, American Society of Hematology, Southwest Oncology Group, the Association of Blood and Marrow Transplant and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Petersen is a prolific writer and renowned expert in his field.

Julie Asch, M.D.
Dr. Julie Asch earned her medical degree from Rutgers University Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ. She served as a pediatric intern, resident and chief resident at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey) in New Brunswick, NJ and completed fellowship training at both Mount Sinai Hospital, New York City, NY and the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT. Dr. Asch served as director of the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Stem Cell Laboratory, director of the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology clinic at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, director of the Apheresis Program for the Bone Marrow Transplant Program at the University of Utah and Medical director of Utah Blood and Marrow Transplant Total Quality Management. She is has been an assistant professor at the UM.D.NJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, MJ and at the University of Utah. Dr. Asch is widely published and is a member of the American Association of Blood Banks, the American Society of Hematology, the Children’s Oncology Group and is a fellow with the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Nathan T. Rich, M.D.
Dr. Rich received his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. He attended The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health in Columbus, OH where he earned his medical degree in 2000. He completed both an internship and residency at The Ohio State University Medical Center in the Department of Internal Medicine , and continued his training with an Oncology fellowship in Iowa City, IA at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology, Oncology and Blood Marrow Transplantation. Dr. Rich is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. He holds professional affiliations with the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine.

Clyde D. Ford, M.D.
Dr. Clyde D. Ford earned his medical degree from the University of Utah. He filled an internship and residency in internal medicine at Duke University in Durham, NC. He completed fellowships in hematology/oncology at both Duke University and the University of Utah.
He has served in the Chief Division of Hematology/Oncology in the Department of Medicine at LDS Hospital, as well as being Clinical Director of the Intermountain Blood and Marrow Transplant Program and a Medical Oncologist at the Salt Lake Clinic. Dr. Ford is widely published and recognized as a leader in his field. He is a member of the American Societies of Internal Medicine, Clinical Oncology, Hematology, and Blood and Marrow Transplantation. He also belongs to the American College of Physicians, the American Association for Cancer Research, the Society for Neuro-oncology and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology.

Jason M. Stinnett, M.D.
Dr. Jason Stinnett earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, Arkansas. He completed both a residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Utah. Dr. Stinnett is an active clinical research investigator and has published several academic studies. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Southwest Oncology Group. He serves as a Diplomate with the American Board of Internal Medicine, where he is certified in both Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.

Nasfat Shehadeh, M.D.
Nasfat Shehadeh, M.D. received his medical degree from the Jordan University of Sciences and Technology in Irbad, Jordan. He served a residency in Internal Medicine at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI and was the Chief Fellow during his fellowship training there. Most recently, Dr. Shehadeh practiced with the Division of Hematology, Oncology and Transplantation with the Department of Medicine at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN and where he also served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. He is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Shehadeh is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology.

Jane E. MacPherson, M.D.
Dr. MacPherson earned her medical degree at Michigan State University (MSU) in East Lansing, Michigan. She completed a residency in Family Practice at MSU/St. Lawrence Hospital in Lansing, MI, where she was Co-Chief Resident. She has broad experience in family medicine and most recently served as the Associate Director of Palliative Medicine for the Urban Central Region of Intermountain Healthcare in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dr. MacPherson is board certified in Family Practice, Hospice and Palliative Medicine and board eligible in medical Acupuncture.

Launce G. Gouw, M.D., PhD
Dr. Gouw earned both a medical degree and a Ph.D. in Human Medical Genetics at the University of Utah School of Medicine, He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at University Hospital, and a clinical and research fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. He was a Hematologist and Oncologist staff physician at the Salt Lake City Veteran's Affairs Medical Center before joining Utah Cancer Specialists. He maintains an active research connection with the University of Utah's Department of Bioinformatics, investigating causes and mechanisms of cancer. Dr. Gouw is board certified in Internal Medicine and board eligible in Medical Oncology and Hematology.

Nancy Weber, PA-C
Ms. Weber received her Physician Assistant training from the University of Utah. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Weber State College with a bachelor's degree in Allied Health Education/Administration and an associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy. She previously worked for 10 years as Director of Cardiopulmonary Services at Davis Hospital Medical Center. Ms. Weber holds certification with the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants.

Michael R. Gaffney, PA-C
Mr. Gaffney graduated from the Physician Assistant Program at the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1993. He has worked as a Physician Assistant at the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center, Primary Children's Medical Center and LDS Hospital. Mr. Gaffney has also worked with the Community Health Centers and Wasatch Homeless Health Care program in Salt Lake City. He holds official recognition with the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants.

Richard E. Hanson, PA-C
Mr. Hanson graduated from the Utah Physician Assistant Program in 1988. He also has a bachelor's degree in Health Care Management. He worked for seven years at the Department of Hematology/Oncology at the Salt Lake Veterans Administration Health Care System. He also served as a clinical instructor for the Utah Physician Assistant Program. He is a member of the Association of Physician Assistants in Oncology and maintains certification with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Rosemary McGee-Conder, APRN, MSN, FNP-C
Ms. Conder earned a master's degree at the University of Utah as a Family Nurse Practitioner. A health care provider since 1983, she has coordinated various clinical trials in oncology research and collaborated with the University of Pennsylvania Cancer Center to develop a hospice program. She is experienced in pain management and supporting patients and families facing the emotional challenges associated with a cancer diagnosis. Ms. Condor has a special interest in educating patients and their families about the disease process and symptom management. She is board certified by the American Nurses Association as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Esther Kannapel, MSN, APRN, FNP-C
Ms. Kannapel has worked as a Registered Nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner since 1993 in general medicine, oncology, and surgery. In 2001 she earned a master's degree and Family Nurse Practitioner Certification from the University of Utah. She worked as a Nurse Practitioner for the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center, Primary Children's Medical Center, and LDS Hospital. She also worked for a short time as a general medicine provider in the Veterans Administration Health Care System. She is board certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Anne Marceau, NP
Ms. Marceau earned a bachelor's degree in Nursing in 1988 from Fairfield University in Connecticut. She earned a master's degree in Nursing and a Nurse Practitioner Certification from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute for Health Professionals in 1997. Most of her nursing career has been in Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant. She worked with the Utah Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at University of Utah Health Sciences Center, Primary Children's Medical Center and LDS Hospital. She is board certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner.

Alison Collings, APRN, NP-C
Ms. Collings earned a BS in Nursing from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT and holds a master of science in Nursing from Regis University, Denver, CO. She has served as a Staff Nurse at the Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers in Denver and a Nurse Practitioner for the Utah Blood and Marrow Transplant Program in Salt Lake City. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Oncology Nursing Society. She maintains certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Bill Wegesser, PA-C
Mr. Wegesser is a graduate of the University of Utah’s Physician Assistant Program, holds a bachelor degree in Nursing from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT, and a bachelor of arts degree in Recreation Administration from California State University in Chico, CA. He worked for over ten years as an ICU nurse at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, then as a Physician Assistant with the The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital in Murray, UT. For the past twelve years, prior to joining Utah Cancer Specalists, Mr. Wegesser worked as a physician assistant with the Utah Blood and Marrow Transplant program in Salt Lake City. He is certified by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants.

Jenny Jones, NP
Ms. Jones received her undergraduate training at Texas A&M University, College Station, TX, where she earned a BS in Biomedical Science. She holds a master’s of nursing from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA. Ms. Jones has worked in clinical research and as a Clinical Nurse, specializing in women’s health. She is a member of the Utah Nurse Practitioner Association and the Utah Nurses Association. Ms. Jones is certified by the National Certification Corporation.

Tracy Anderson APRN, MSN, FNP-C
Ms. Anderson earned her bachelor's degree in Nursing and her master's degree from the University of Utah as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has been a health care provider since 2000 specializing in Oncology. She has previously worked for the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program and Oncology Services at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. She is board certified through the American Nurse Credentialing Center

Nicole Girard, PA-C
Ms. Girard graduated from Weber State University, Ogden, UT with a bachelor's degree in Microbiology. She holds a Bachelor of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Midwestern University, Downers Grove, IL. She has worked as a Physician Assistant in pediatrics, internal medicine and orthopedics. She has been a Clinical Research Coordinator at the University of Chicago Hospital in the Pulmonary Section. She is board certified by The National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistant's (NCCPA).

Bruce Bolonesi, PA-C
Mr. Bolonesi earned a bachelor of science in Kinesiology from California State University, Fullerton, CA. He did graduate work at San Diego State University with emphasis in exercise physiology, cardiac rehabilitation and adult fitness. He graduated from the University of Washington Physician Assistant Program and has spent most of his career in oncology. He is a fellow in the Washington Academy of Physician Assistants and most recently worked as a senior physician assistant at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA. Shahrzad Christopher, PA-C, MT
Ms. Christopher graduated from Jefferson College of Health Sciences in Roanoke, VA, with a bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant studies. She also holds a BS in Clinical Laboratory Sciences from Weber State University in Ogden, UT. She served as a Senior Medical Technologist with ARUP Laboratories and a Health Unit Coordinator at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center Emergency Department. She is board certified with the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and is affiliated with the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).

Peter Colasurdo, PA-C
Mr. Colasurdo received his Physician Assistant training at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, WA. Prior to that he served as a Hospital Corpsman with the United States Navy for eight years and worked as a Medical Assistant with Group Health Cooperative in Seattle, WA. Mr. Colasurdo holds certification with the National Commission for the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Robert Dent, PA-C, MPAS
Robert Dent earned both a BS and a Masters degree from the University of Utah. Prior to joining UCS he worked for seven years with the Utah Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center, Primary Children's Medical Center and LDS Hospital. He is certified by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants. Mr. Dent is also a Physician Assistant in the Utah Army National Guard.

Michael J. Cole, PA-C
Mr. Cole studied in the Physician Assistant Program in the School of Medicine at the University of Utah. He is a certified cardiopulmonary technologist, with 13 years experience as a Cardiology Physician Assistant. He is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Vilija Avizonis, M.D.
Dr. Avizonis earned her medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. She completed an internship and residency in Radiation Oncology at LDS Hospital, combined with a Fellowship in Head and Neck Radiation Oncology at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Her special interests are head and neck cancers, organ preservation, breast cancer and colorectal cancer. Dr. Avizonis is a question writer for the National written board exams in Radiation Oncology, as well as an oral board examiner. Dr Avizonis is a member of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. She maintains board certification from the American Board of Radiology.

A. Jennifer Fischbach, M.D.
Dr. Fischbach earned her medical degree from the University of Utah College of Medicine in 1978. She completed a residency in Clinical Radiation Oncology at LDS Hospital. Dr. Fischbach is a member of the American College of Radiation Oncology and maintains board certifications from the American Board of Radiology. Her special interest is in breast cancer.

R. Jeffery Lee, M.D.
Dr. Lee earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed an internship and residency in Radiation Oncology at LDS Hospital. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Utah. Dr. Lee is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology. He maintains board certification from the American Board of Radiology.

Preston Wakefield, Medical Dosimetrist
Mr. Wakefield received his board certification as a Radiation Therapist at LDS Hospital in 1974 and has been a member of the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists since 1976. He served as a Radiation Therapist and then as Chief Medical Dosimetrist at LDS Hospital for 29 years before joining Utah Cancer Specialists in 2003.

Mark A. Fackrell, BS, RT (T)
Mr. Fackrell earned a Certificate of Radiation Therapy at the University of Utah Medical Center in 1989 and a bachelor's degree in Health Administrative Services at Weber State University in 2000. He is board certified in Radiation Therapy and a member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Mary Hammon, BS, RT (R)(CT)(T)
Ms. Hammon earned a bachelor's degree in Applied Radiological Sciences from Weber State University (WSU). She also graduated from WSU's Radiation Therapy program and is certified in Radiation Therapy. She is registered with the ARRT in Diagnostic Radiology and Computed Tomography. She has worked in the health care field since 1984.

Ben Roberts, RT
Mr. Roberts earned a bachelor of science degree in Radiation Therapy from Weber State University, Ogden, UT. He has worked as a Radiological Technologist and in computed tomography technology. He is licensed as a Radiologic Technologist and Radiation Therapist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
